The department was established in 1991, since it was a branch of Animal Production Department. The main activities of the department are : Breeding, physiology, nutrition poultry and husbandry. One of the main aims that this stage impose is to take care of poultry technology via the improvement of careless characteristic by applying the modern techniques in the field of genetic and nutrition as well as studying the ability of adding various production from poultry as an encouragement to increase the share of the individual from poultry consumption as the world records in this domain that goes to the consumption of dressed birds fresh or frozen with the decrease of the consumption of the whole carcass and the increase of the consumption of the chicken parts and the ones that are ready to be cooked…etc. Knowing that the department from its beginning traces parallel lines to provide the different research possibilities in all specialization and to make them in a state of integration to serve the poultry activity and to improve the type of the production.
