Principles of ecology of plant diseases with emphasis on the climatic environment on development of diseases _ Geographical distribution of plant diseases _ Ecological factors as predisposing agents for disease incidence _ effect of ecological factors on: growth and sporulation of phytopathogenic fungi and bacterial growth, inoculum dispersal, inoculum potential.

Economic importance of diseases of field crops. Study of important diseases of field crops (cereals, legumes, oil crops, fiber crops, onions, forage crops) including,  importance, causal agent, symptoms, disease cycle and disease management.

Fine structure of fungi and their structures _ Physiology of nutrition with respect to enzymes degrade plant polymers _ Absorption and translocation of nutrients with fungal hyphae, physiology of sporulation, physiology of spore dormancy and germination, secondary metaboolites relate to disease incidence.

Introduction to plant pathology _ Economic importance of parasitic and non-parasitic diseases of major fruit trees, vegetable crops and ornamental plants, including the causal agent, symptoms, disease cycle, epidemiology, and control.

Theory and practice of electron and light microscopy and associated specimen preparation techniques _ The anatomy of host plant (Organs, tissues and cell ultra structure) _ Structural changes due to the diseases (Parasitic and non parasitic) _ The defense structures of cells and tissues.
