Plant Pathology specialization was one of the major specializations of the Department of Agricultural Botany since the establishment of the Faculty in 1950. Department of Plant Pathology was born from the vagina of Department of Agricultural Botany in 1969. It was then the first Department of Plant Pathology to be established in the Egyptian universities. In 1966 an option of specialization in Plant Pathology for B Sc degree was established in our Faculty for the first time in Egyptian universities. Through 35 years about one thousand students graduated with B.Sc in Agricultural (Plant Pathology). Through education, research, and extension, our Department is a major contributor to plant pathology sciences and their application for improved agricultural production systems in Egypt.
